About Family Sponsorship
If your relative is a Canadian citizen, person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or a permanent resident, they may be able to sponsor you to come to Canada to live.
Spouse or Common-law Partner
You may be eligible to sponsor your spouse or common-law partner if you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a registered Indian under the Canadian Indian Act and is at least 18 years old. Contact MEIA and we will assess your eligibility.
Dependent Child
You can sponsor your child to come to Canada if they are under 22 years old and do not have a spouse or partner. If the child is over 22 years old, they must have been financially dependent on you before reaching age 22 and have a physical or mental condition which prevents them from supporting themselves financially.
Parents and Grandparents
The IRCC open sponsorship applications for parents and grandparents usually at the beginning of each year. However, there are no specific times to anticipate this opening. If you are interested in sponsoring your parents or grandparents to come to Canada, contact MEIA now for your consultation.
