Express Entry

This is a points based system which permits skilled foreign nationals to apply for permanent residency through various economic programs. Candidates are ranked in a pool and those with the highest points are given an invitation to apply for permanent residency. To be eligible for an Express Entry Program there are certain requirements that must be met; however, they vary per program.

• Language – To be eligible for the FSWP, FSTP, CEC, and PNP your language ability must meet that of the Canadian Language Benchmark in one of Canada’s official Language, English or French. Test results are required from one of the following language tests: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Test d’évaluation de français pour le Canada (TEF), Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF).
• Work Experience – Your work experience must be in of the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) jobs required for the program of your choice. For e.g. The FSWP candidate work experience, must be in a NOC 0, A or B job.
• Education – Whilst some programs have education requirements, some do not. However, for the ones not having an educational requirement, having one will increase your chances in the Express Entry pool. If you did not study in Canada and studied abroad, you can get points for having an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) done for your foreign credential.
• Admissibility – In order to be accepted under any immigration program in Canada, you must be admissible and meet the requirements under Canadian immigration law. If you have been refused a visa before or think that you may be inadmissible, contact MEIA and we will assess your situation and guide you as to how you may become admissible.

Programs Under Express Entry

• Federal Skilled Worker Program – There are a few factors which are considered by the Canadian government for someone to be eligible to enter the pool as a FSW. The factors are Age, Education, Language, Work Experience, Arranged Employment/ Job Offer in Canada and Adaptability.
• Federal Skilled Trades Program – This program is geared towards foreign nationals with specific skill trades and there is no education requirement. Let MEIA assess your eligibility and help you meet the criteria.
• Canadian Experience Class – The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program is for foreign nationals who have at least one year of full time work experience in Canada in the last three years. Contact MEIA to help you gain this work experience and help you become eligible by meeting other requirements.
• Provincial Nomination Program – The Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) is for foreign nationals who have specific skills, education and work experience that will contribute to the economic development of a specific province. The foreign national must also have the intention to reside in that province and want to become a permanent resident of Canada. MEIA will go through the process with you and advice you as to which provincial program you are likely eligible.

Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker

There were two pilots introduced on June 18, 2019 which allows a foreign national to be hired as an in home caregiver. As a Home Child Care Provider and a Home Support Worker, your family member can come to Canada with you and work or study.
